Thanks to our authors and readers, it was a fine February for Isonomia – far better than the ever-pessimistic Admin desk anticipated, in fact, given that it was a short month. For one thing, there was a major change of colour scheme for the site – we hope you like our new cool blues and purples, replacing the previous autumnal theme. The leap year also heralded a 75% leap in our reader numbers and growing interest from around the world. So without wishing to neglect our loyal Bristol and London readership, we’d particularly like to say hello to those looking in from Toronto and Kuwait!
It’s starting to become a little competitive between our authors as to who can clock up the most page views. Chris Sherrington emerged with the laurels this month, with his Turtle Economic Value article was the biggest hit, closely followed by his collaboration with Peter Jones analysing Eric Pickles’ Weekly Collection Support Scheme – which has now been made into a special report by LetsRecycle.
That wasn’t the only outside interest in Isonomia last month. Phillip Ward returned from his holidays with a great piece on Defra’s interpretation of separate collection, which clocked up a flurry of views at the end of the month, and which was tweeted and shared on LinkedIn by quite a few people. Meanwhile, Claire Stonier’s piece on commercial waste in the domestic stream prompted an energetic debate on the E2B Pulse website.
Dominic Hogg’s interesting piece on the Green Investment Bank and climate change action in India, together with Debbie Fletcher’s exploration of deposit refunds in Spain gave the site an international element this month, which we’ll aim to keep up in future.
The Admin desk likes to have a few articles in the works at any given time – it stops us fretting about where the next one is coming from – and expects to introduce some new authors in March. Remember to subscribe to the site so you don’t miss out on the new pieces we anticipate this month:
- Martin Steiner and Ulrich Wiegel on the power of imagination when it comes to CO2 waste
- Dominic Hogg on the WEEE Directive,
- Articles from two different Peter Joneses.
In addition, we’d be glad to hear from you if you’d like to offer an informed but accessible viewpoint on any issue in the environment sector. Our goal is to create a space where thoughts on topics from across the environment sector can be expressed and explored, enabling communication and cross fertilisation of ideas. Whether it’s waste or water, enforcement or emissions – whatever’s on your mind, get in touch.
Enjoy the site, tell us what you think, and keep coming back for more.
