Nicole Garofano is a PhD Candidate at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Her research is focused on the generation and management of plastic food and beverage packaging material in small island developing states. Her topic was strongly influenced by spending eight years in the Caribbean nation of Barbados where she led a local environmental education NGO, developing among other initiatives, the CoRe NETWORK community recycling initiative.
